Riverside junior Addison Drake hit two home runs and drove in three runs as the Lady Panthers defeated Neshannock 6-5 on Monday at Riverside.
Drake’s second homer of the contest, a two-run bomb in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the game winning hit as Riverside rallied.
Drake finished a perfect 3-3 at the dish, scoring three runs and knocking in three runs. The infielder now has a 0.722 OBP and a 1.786 slugging percentage this season (2.508 OPS) to lead the Panthers offense.
The Panthers led 4-2 entering the top of the fifth inning before the Lancers (8-2 Overall) scored three runs to take a brief lead.
Riverside opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two RBI singles by Saeryn Hoover and Kara Sutphen.
The Panthers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Drake smashed her first homer of the contest to left field.
Ayla Sterner earned the win for Riverside. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out five. Gianna Paglia began the game for Neshannock and allowed six hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Joci Cummings threw one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for the Panthers in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Sutphen collected two hits for Riverside and Adelaide Burry doubled.
Jaidon Nogay went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Neshannock offensively. Gabriella Antuono, Nogay, Alivia Lambo, and Brenna Frengel each drove in one run for the Lancers.
The Lady Panthers (5-2 Overall) will look to add to their 4-game winning streak when they host New Brighton on Tuesday.
