Riverside used a 17-point effort by Cole Becker to knock off rival Ellwood City 49-47 in overtime Tuesday evening.
The Panthers led 27-18 at halftime before the visiting Wolverines narrowed the gap with a third quarter surge and held Riverside to only three fourth quarter points to force overtime.
Becker scored four of Riversides nine points in overtime including the decisive last two points.
McCartney Plassmeyer finished with 11 points for the Panthers. Riverside was only 5-16 from the free throw line.
Kaleb Servick scored a game high 18 points in defeat for Ellwood City. Aaron Lake (11 points, 12 rebounds) and Jackson Kerr (10 points) joined Servick in double figures offensively.
Riverside improves to 5-1 on the regular season while Ellwood City falls to 4-3. Each team is now 1-1 in section play and will turn their focus to games on Friday night. Riverside travels to face Beaver Falls while Ellwood City will host New Brighton.
