Winter Sport Series PART 1: Ellwood City Q&A

When the temperature drops and snow, sometimes, covers the ground, that means it’s time for the sports to come inside. In this series, Winter Sports series, we will be talking to athletes from both Riverside and Lincoln High Schools, along with releasing the schedules for all winter sports.

For part one, EllwoodCity.org sat down with Lincoln High School seniors Isabella Roth, Jake Alberts, and Ricky Pitrelli.

 

Isabella Roth
Varsity Girls Basketball

What grade are you in?
Grade 12

How long have you been involved in basketball?
I have been playing basketball since second grade at Holy Redeemer School.

Why did you choose to play basketball?
I love the game and I would play with my brothers all the time.

Your future/college plans?
I plan to attend Youngstown State University for Dental Hygiene

How have you and your team prepared for this upcoming season?
We had open gyms in the summer and continue practices until the season starts

 

Jake Alberts
Varsity Boys Wrestling

What grade are you in?
Grade 12

How long have you been involved in wrestling?
I have been wrestling for 13 years

Why did you choose to wrestle?
I started when I was younger and always had fun.

Your future/college plans?
Attend a four-year college or university. 

How have you and your team prepared for this upcoming season?
We have workouts or practice every day and some of us go to a week club in West Allegheny called Gladiators. 

 

Ricky Pitrelli
Boys Varsity Basketball

What grade are you in?
12th

How long have you been involved in basketball?
7 years

Why did you choose basketball?
It looked fun.

Your future/college plans?
Go to Akron University to teach.

How have you and your team prepared for this upcoming season?
Running plays and a lot of shooting.
