Rotary Club of Ellwood City Announces Annual Scholarship Recipients

The Rotary Club of Ellwood City held its scholarship dinner on May 15th.

Seniors from Ellwood City and Riverside and their families celebrated with the Rotarians. This year, the Club awarded 6 educational scholarship- totaling $6000.00

In the past, the scholarships were directed at 4-year and 2- year academics. Recognizing a change in student career choices, the Rotary Scholarship Committee added an additional Scholarship to support those who are going into the Trades. In addition, the current scholarships have been renamed and criteria updated to reflect changes in academic standards and testing. Funds for these scholarships are made possible through the fundraising efforts of the Club which include: the Tamburitzans Show, Ellwood City Festival in the Park, and Octoberfest

The biggest excitement of the evening, was for Trade School awardees, as this is the first year for the club to give out the scholarship. These students were very appreciative of the award, as there are few opportunities for financial assistance. Each student gave a short speech about their activities, their college of choice and academic studies. The Rotary Club of Ellwood City, proudly announces their scholarship winners for the Class of 2025:

Lincoln High School:

• Kailyn Hamilton awarded the Baccalaureate Scholarship; Attending: PennWest in California PA. Area of Study: Mechatronics Engineering
• Arionna Wawrzynski awarded the Community College Scholarship, Attending: Butler Community College. Area of Study: Nursing
• Justin Spangler awarded the Trade School Scholarship; Attending: New Castle School of Trades. Area of Study HVAC

Riverside High School:

• Landon Ritter awarded the Baccalaureate Scholarship; Attending: Duquesne University. Area of Study: Physical Therapy
• DeLana Fox awarded the Community College Scholarship; Attending: Community College of Beaver County. Area of Study: Early Childhood Education
• Madelyn Czar awarded the Trade School Scholarship; Attending: UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing Area of Study: Nursing
