The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 hosted their annual Scholarship Awards dinner on Wednesday May 28, at 6PM, at the Connequenessing Country Club.
The club awards eight scholarships to eight students from the Ellwood City and Riverside School districts.
Invocation was offered by Reverend Todd Custer of Christ Presbyterian Church.
Club members, students and their families, enjoyed a buffet of carved roast beef, champagne chicken, penne in vodka sauce, mashed redskin potatoes and summer vegetable medley.
Ben Huth, Riverside Guidance Counselor, offered remarks on the Riverside awardees while John DiBuono, Wolves Club Scholarship Chairman, presented the Scholarships to the awardees.
- Gavin Frederick, son of Frank and Shana Frederick, was awarded the $1,000 Wolves Club Sam Teolis Memorial Scholarship. Gavin wishes to study Biological Science on a Pre-Med track at the University of Pittsburgh.
- Morgan Myers was awarded the $5,000 Wolves Club Scholarship. Morgan wishes to study Biology at Westminster College.
- Roslyn Steinbach, daughter of David and Maggie Steinbach, was awarded the $1,200 Wolves Club Dennis Gottuso Scholarship. Roslyn wishes to study Biochemistry-Pre-Med at the University of Pittsburgh.
- Dennis Gottuso received the first Wolves Scholarship and continues to support the awards by an annual donation to the Wolves Club Scholarship Fund.
- Kevin McKinney, a son of Kevin M. And Normita McKinney, received the $750 Community College of Beaver County Scholarship. Kevin is in the Professional Pilot Program, obtained his private pilot license and is in the second year of the program.
- April Thelllman, Ellwood City Guidance Counselor, offered remarks on the Ellwood City awardees.
- Kaylin Hamilton, a daughter of Dave and Stacy Hamilton, was awarded the $5,000 Wolves Club Scholarship. Kailyln Hamilton wishes to study Mechatronics Engineering at PennWest California University
- Tessa Folino, daughter of John and Jill Folino, was awarded the $1,200 Wolves Club Dennis Gottuso Scholarship. Tessa wishes to study Chemistry at PennWest Clarion University.
- Sophia Agnew, daughter of Travis and Jennifer Agnew, was awarded the $1,000 Wolves Club Carl Agostinelli Memorial Scholarship. Sophia wishes to study Biology at the University of Pittsburgh.
- Bobbi Cornetti of Butler County Community College presented the $750 Wolves Club Butler County Community College Scholarship to Mitchell Covert, son of Patrick and Mel Covert. Mitchell wishes to study Business Administration.
Benediction was presented by Reverend Todd Custer.
The Wolves Club moto is Pro Bono Publico loosely translated “for the good of the public”. The Wolves Club celebrated their 77th year and have presented over $400,000 in scholarships.
