The Riverside Lions Club has kept busy over the past several weeks, raising funds, distributing supplies, and earning a prestigious award according to King Lion Chip Campbell.
The Club had the opportunity to distribute school supplies to five different schools in our area.
Pictured below are Riverside Middle School Principal Alicia Dwyer, Lion Lynn Campbell, and Elementary school Principal Dr. Emily Smith. The club received these supplies through Project Homefront.
The Lions Club also hosted a Basket Luncheon fundraiser with a “Back to the Fifties” theme.
The event was dedicated to Sue Westlund, although not a club member, she was an integral part of everything we did as a club according to Chip Campbell.
“She was very important in making the club the success we’ve been,” said Campbell. “All money raise we donated to the charities of her choice.”
The club had a total of 87 regular baskets and 8 larger baskets. The event was attended by 80 people and featured cookout food, hot dogs, hamburgers, different salads along with an ice cream bar, where you could make you own floats.

With some of the money from Sue’s Westlund’s donation, the Riverside Lions Club purchased gift certificates for the Ellwood City Public Library Used Book Sale and gave them to the first 16 teachers who walked up.
Pictured are Judy Kindle co-chair of the book sale and member of the Library Board, and once again Lion Lynn Campbell.
And finally, the Riverside Lions Club was once again awarded a plaque designating them as the best club in class “B” in District 14.
This is the seventh time in the last eight years Riverside has received this award, beating out 13 other clubs and finished with the third highest total in the District according to Chip Campbell.
District 14N is comprised of Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, and Lawrence Counties. Points are awarded to clubs in relation to how much they service the Lions and local communities. This was awarded at the Fall Rally held at the Atrium in Prospect, PA.
