Kirk P. Derrow Sr., 48, of Franklin Township passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 at his residence. Kirk was born on February 25th, 1975 in Ellwood City to Milo Derrow and the late Yvonne (Francis) Winkle. He graduated in 1994 from Riverside High School where he participated in cross country and other track and field activities. Kirk worked for Allied Rubber and Supply Company in the hydraulic shop as a counter operator. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing and taking canoe trips with his family. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: On February 14th at approximately 2:30 a.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Reserve Square, Wayne Township for a report theft from a motor vehicle. According to the report, a known victim, 29-year-old male, reported that he had reviewed video surveillance of his property and there was an unknown actor(s) observed near his vehicles. Upstart Manufacturers Coalition Awarded $236,000 Grant from PA Dept of Labor and Industry

MERCER – A collaboration of local manufacturers, including two from Ellwood City, working together to address shared workforce development challenges was awarded a $236,786 grant from the Industry Partnership program of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. Mr. Ralph F. “Fred” Tritt, 83, of Frisco passed away on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at the UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Mr. Tritt was born in Ellwood City on July 26th, 1940 to the late Ralph L. and Jean (Funkhouser) Tritt. He is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1959 and the First Church of God. Wolverines junior wrestlers Derek Allen and Gabe Lilly each collected second place finishes in their respective weight classes at the District 7 Class 2A Sectionals this past Saturday at Greensburg Salem High School.
