The Riverside High School Theater will present the musical, The Addams Family on March 21-24 in the high school auditorium, 300 Country Club Drive, Ellwood City. A cast and crew of over 100 students from the school district will participate in the production directed by Brent Rodgers. This is the 61st Anniversary of Theater at Riverside. Edna Ellen Blake, 81, Darlington Township, formerly of Big Beaver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Born November 14, 1942 in Burns, OR, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Olive Parsons Pierce. Edna worked in housekeeping and laundry for 33 years at the Holiday Inn. Betty Jean Schliffka, 96, formerly of Fombell, passed away at Avalon Place in New Castle on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Four Individuals From Ellwood City Charged in Connection In Drug Trafficking Operation Originating in Puerto Rico

Four individuals from Ellwood City are among seventeen from Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; Puerto Rico; and Youngstown, Ohio, who have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for violating federal narcotics, firearms, and racketeering laws, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced on Thursday. The defendants were charged in two Indictments that were unsealed today and allege that, between September 2022 and March 2024, the defendants conspired to distribute cocaine throughout Western Pennsylvania, specifically in the New Castle area, as well as in Youngstown, Ohio. Wayne Township Votes Against Holding Clean-Up Day

In a 2-1 vote, the Wayne Township Board of Supervisors voted against holding its annual clean-up day. The vote was part of new business items at the township’s monthly Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, March 7th. According to the township, Supervisor Marc Cunningham voted no with Supervisor Rick Weingartner seconding the vote. Supervisor William Hepler was in favor of clean-up. ASSAULT: On February 28th at approximately 1:46AM police responded to a call of possible domestic disturbance. The arrestee assaulted his two cousins and destroyed their cell phones over an argument. The arrestee, a 17-year-old male of New Wilmington, was charged with two counts of simple assault, two counts of harassment, and one count of criminal mischief, according to criminal complaint. Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors Cut Ribbon to Signify, Celebrate Completion of the Perry School Project

Mohawk Eliminates Ellwood City In PIAA Class 3A Playoffs

Mohawk rallied from a second half deficit Wednesday, knocking off Ellwood City for the third time this season – this time eliminating the Wolverines in the second round of the PIAA Class 3A Playoffs. The Warrior used 28 points from sophomore Bobby Fadden as Mohawk collected a 55-50 victory. Ellwood City senior Joseph Roth finished with a game-high 29 points.
