The Hall of Fame Committee of the Ellwood City Area School District is pleased to announce the incoming class of the Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame.
This class includes five individuals and one athletic team. Together, they make up the third class to be installed into the Hall of Fame. The honorees are:
Mr. Stephen Johns, Class of 2010
- After graduation, Stephen attended Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree in Business and Finance and played on the Fighting Irish hockey team for four seasons. Stephen was drafted into the National Hockey League by the Chicago Blackhawks and played as a defenseman for the Dallas Stars. He retired from Hockey in 2021 when his career was cut short due to concussions suffered while playing hockey. He then launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness for those suffering from issues associated with head injuries. Stephen hosts an annual golf outing which has raised over $20,000 for national and local charities.
Mr. Michael Perry, Class of 1981
- Michael received an appointment to West Point where he played football for the Army Black Knights and then served as a Captain in the United States Army. Michael then went on to earn his MBA from Webster University and his J.D. from Temple University, Beasley School of Law. He has practiced law for over 30 years. In addition, Michael owns and operates a successful local retail business in Ellwood City. He took over the family furniture and appliance business which opened in 1966. Michael has been very involved in local charities.
Dr. Kiran Rajasenan, Class of 1989
- Dr. Rajasenan attended Gannon University where he participated in a seven-year BS-MD program after graduating from Lincoln High School. Kiran completed his internal medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital and a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at UPMC. He now serves on the Executive Board of his 58-physician practice and is the former Chair of Oncology at UPMC Passavant. He has also served on the board of the American Cancer Society’s regional chapter and is a longtime board member of Gannon University’s Board of Directors. Kiran has earned several awards including 12 consecutive years as a “Top Doc” as recognized by Pittsburgh Magazine. He has also earned awards for Patient Care NS Clinical Trial Program Development. Dr. Rajasenan has established scholarships for Lincoln High School Students as well as an endowed scholarship at Gannon University.
Mr. Doug Tammaro, class of 1987
- Doug Tammaro continued his education at Baldwin Wallace University and has worked in the Arizona State University’s Sun Devil media relations office since June of 1993. He is currently the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations at Arizona State. Doug has been a member of the NCAA Final Four communications Committee since 2005 and was the host media coordinator representing Arizona State at the 2017 and 2024 Final Four tournaments. He has also served as the NCAA media coordinator for three straight NCAA men’s and women’s golf championships in Scottsdale. The U.S. Basketball Writers Association named him the 2024 recipient of the USBWA’s Katha Quinn Award that recognizes sports information directors and administrators that have excelled at servicing the media or provide inspiration to those in the sports journalism field.
Mr. Bob Timmerman, Class of 1958
- Bob Timmerman earned 11 varsity letters when he attended Lincoln High School playing football, basketball and baseball. Mr. Timmerman was awarded a full scholarship at WVU where he became a three year starter and senior year captain on the football team. He also made the freshman basketball team and had try outs with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies. After college, Bob was signed by the Green Bay Packers and made it to final cuts and was then offered a tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bob went on to play two years of semi-pro football before returning to Ellwood City where he would serve 33 years as a physical education teacher and coach. Bob Timmerman was inducted into the Lawrence County Hall of Fame in 2003.
2008 WPIAL Championship Softball Team
- Coached by Mr. Gary Rozanski, this team won back-to-back AAA Section Championships and finished the season with a 16-1 section record. They became the first team in the history of Lincoln High School as well as Lawrence County to win a WPIAL title. This team advanced to the quarter finals of the PIAA softball playoffs
The third Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame class will be inducted at a dinner on Friday, December 13, 2024 prior to the varsity basketball game. The class will be honored guests at the Lincoln High School Wolverine’s basketball game where they will be recognized during halftime.
In 2022, the Ellwood City Area School District Hall of Fame Committee unveiled the Hall of Fame to celebrate the professional achievements and athletic accomplishments of Lincoln Jr/Sr High School alumni. EllwoodCity.org has previously featured a series spotlighting the Ellwood City Area Hall of Fame leading up to the induction ceremonies.
