Bernstine Announces C2P2 Grant To Fund Rehabilitation of Wampum Park

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) announced grants totaling $171,300 have been awarded to Butler and Lawrence counties to fund two recreational improvement projects through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).

“Parks and recreation centers provide gathering places for families and social groups, as well as for individuals of all ages and economic status,” said Bernstine. “Development projects are vital to our district as they provide job opportunities to those in surrounding areas and, upon completion, help increase tourism in our communities.”

Wampum Borough in Lawrence County will receive a grant of $73,000 to rehabilitate Wampum Park. The work includes renovation of the baseball field and dugouts; construction of a pedestrian walkway; installation of fencing; and ADA access, landscaping and project sign.

Connoquenessing Borough in Butler County will receive a grant of $98,300 to rehabilitate Connoquenessing Park. The work includes construction of pedestrian walkways; installation of nature play equipment with required safety surfacing; and ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

The C2P2 program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects. 1. Sure, help with a new park in Wampum, (not opposed here) but when we contacted him to help with not allowing the Ellwood city school board to build a softball field in the middle of a quiet neighborhood we got nothing! I voted for him twice before, but NEVER again!
