REC Wrestling to Hold 2023-24 Sign-Ups

The REC (Riverside-Ellwood City) Youth Wrestling will hold sign-ups for on Monday, October 2nd, Tuesday, October 3rd and Thursday, October. 5th in North Side Elementary School cafeteria.

Sign-ups will be held from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Sign-up sheets will be available during that time and are also available to view here.

Registration cost is $150 per wrestler. Registration fee covers entry into the league, insurance and wrestling warm-ups (shirt and shorts).

REC Wrestling is for both boys and girls ages 5-12. Age is determined by the wrestler’s age as of Dec. 31, 2023. Practices will run the second or third week of October 2023 through the end of February or March 2024. Coaches will reach out to all wrestlers when the final practice schedule is determined. REC Wrestling is a member of the Western Area Wrestling Association. REC Wrestling will have a full league schedule of five matches, including a home match at Lincoln High School. There is also the WAWA tournament, where all member schools will compete against each other, at the end of the season.

Wrestling is a great sport for kids of all athletic levels. They are paired up to wrestle kids in the same age, weight and experience range. It is a great activity for football and baseball players to continue to work on their conditioning, footwork and activity levels during the winter season. It is also a great sport to build confidence in all kids. Wrestlers are required to have wrestling shoes and headgear. Sign-ups will continue through the month of November at nightly practice.
