Borough Needs Volunteers To Help Fill Planter Boxes

The Borough of Ellwood City is looking for volunteers to help fill their downtown planter boxes.

Last month, the borough received a $2,000.00 2023 National Pennsylvania Day Mini Grant from America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and in support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

The grant funds will be utilized to assist with costs to replace planter boxes along Lawrence Avenue, the town’s main street.

“The event is a community revitalization effort around businesses and organizations, we believe it will be a great way to revitalize our main corridor,” said Kevin Swogger, borough manager.

You don’t have to volunteer for the entire day, just an hour of your time is appreciated!

  • When: Thursday, July 20, 2023 (National Pennsylvania Day!)
  • Time: 8:00 am-4:00 pm
  • Where: Lawrence Avenue
  • Where to sign up: https://america250pa.org/PPE:_PA_Day
  • Directions for July 20th: Please report to the steps of the Municipal Building at 525 Lawrence Avenue. You will be directed to a planter box. You will fill the box with stone, place and secure the topiary tree and fill the box in with pea gravel.

Volunteers must register or they cannot participate – no exceptions!
