Borough Receives Pennsylvania Day Grant In Support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful

To support community improvement and engage volunteers, the Borough of Ellwood City announced today it is the recipient of a $2,000.00 2023 National Pennsylvania Day Mini Grant from America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and in support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

The grant funds will be utilized to assist with costs to replace planter boxes along Lawrence Avenue, the town’s main street.

“We are thrilled to be the recipient of the America250PA grant funding. It is our hope that this project will help beautify our main street and give Ellwood City a fresh look. We are grateful to be able to partner with this organization to achieve that goal,” said Kevin Swogger, Borough Manager of Ellwood City.

America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and in support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, awarded $18,900 in support of 11 projects that aim to improve the community and engage volunteers. Projects include community cleanups, park improvements, revitalization efforts, river sweeps, graffiti abatement and murals. Funding was provided by the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA), which was established by the legislature and Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Grants up to $2,000.00 were available to existing America250PA partners.
