POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:
Anthony Cirelli, 33, of Ellwood City is charged with Aggravated Assault after an incident on May 17th. According to a criminal complaint, police received a call for a male that was assaulted with a ball bat at a residence on Franklin Avenue. According to the complaint, a female resident was at the property when Cirelli struck the male victim in the head with a bat. The female claimed Cirelli hit the victim to get him off of her as the victim was pushing himself onto her. A day later, police ran into Cirelli and he corroborated the female’s story and refused to answer additional questions. The victim then came to police and made a written statement claiming he was lured to the residence by the female to help her move and once he was upstairs in the bedroom he was struck in the head by Cirelli with the bat. When the victim came to, he was bleeding from his head and his money was gone. The victim was able to leave the residence and later went to urgent care for the large laceration to the back of his head. Ellwood City Police have asked the female and Cirelli to come in to make their written statements but neither have come to see the police.

HARASSMENT:
On June 19th at approximately 12:30 a.m., PA State Police responded to a domestic altercation that had escalated into physical violence at a residence on Old Route 18, New Beaver Borough. According to the report, amidst an argument, a 59-year-old male from Wampum struck his 59-year-old girlfriend, twice about the face area. The arrestee will be charged with on count of harassment. The charge will be filed and pending through the Office of Judge Jerry Cartwright, Jr.



RETAIL THEFT:
Charles Brady, 52, of Mercer, is charged with Retail Theft after an incident on June 5th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 5:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Dollar General on West Lawrence Avenue for a retail theft. Officers spoke with the caller who advised a male had entered the store and concealed items and passed all points of sale never paying for the items. The total amount taken is $8.75. On June 6th, police drove down Spring Avenue in an attempt to locate the male and found a white male with a ball cap matching the description of the suspect. Upon speaking with the male, police observed shoes and a hat that matched what the male wore during the theft. Police placed Brady under arrest and upon search incident to arrest, located a small amount of Crystal Meth. Brady is charged with Retail Theft, False Identification, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

HIDTA OPERATION #138 (PHOTO)
On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the Lawrence County District Attorney’s HIDTA Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at 1136 Parkwood Court, Apartment 1A, Oak Leaf Gardens Apartment Complex, in the City of New Castle. Upon making entry into the apartment, the target of the investigation, Vincent Hill, AKA – “JB”, ran towards a rear bedroom but was quickly taken into custody. Two males, a female and a minor child were also located inside the apartment. After securing all occupants, a search of the residence yielded the following: 91.6 total gross grams of suspected fentanyl; 6.6 total gross grams of suspected crack cocaine; 8.6 total gross grams of suspected marijuana; Five (5) Alprazolam tablets; One (1) digital weigh scale; One (1) Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol; and $600 in U.S. currency. Mr. Hill was taken into custody and lodged in the Lawrence County Jail on the following charges: Pennsylvania Title 35: 13(a)(30) – Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Two Counts). Further charges are pending on additional co-conspirators in this investigation.

THEFT:
On June 13th at approximately 6:53 p.m., PA State Police responded to a report of identity theft on Martin Road, Slippery Rock Township. A 53-year-old female victim stated her palce of employment received an email that appeared to be from the victim relating she would like to change her direct deposit to her new Green Dot Bank account. No money was stolen from the victim. This case has no suspects.

THEFT:
On June 11th at approximately 7:09 a.m., an incident was reported whereas a 19-year-old Fombell male’s vehicle windshield and left driver window was damaged while it was parked in the Hillsville quarries, in Mahoning Township. In addition, a 19-year-old Ellwood City female had a debit card stolen from the interior of her vehicle while parked in the same location.
