Ellwood City Country Singer Tony Barge Receives Proclamation

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a surprise proclamation Saturday, July 23rd to Local Ellwood City Country Singer Tony Barge.

It was presented to Tony before his performance with the Hony Tonk Heroes at the Ellwood City Community Plaza.

“It was such an honor to give recognition to Tony Barge. He uses his gift of music to brighten the lives of others,” said Mayor Court in a statement.

Barge added on his social media page, “I was startled and taken back when Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court presented me with a proclamation on behalf of my hometown. I was unaware of this and feel great honor in acceptance of this presentation”

Barge thanked Mayor Court and to the good people of his hometown, and to all who made this possible. Barge also thanked the Honky Tonk Heroes, and a great group of musicians as well as friends: Ron Lantz, Scooter White, Tony Lang and (Becky Lang), and Stefan Rodriguez.

Tony uses his gift to entertain at retirement homes and hospitals to help lighten up their lives.

According to his website, Barge is a native of Ellwood City and has spent a great deal of his lifetime as a performer of the classic-style of country music. Tony has performed in the bands of and/or shared the stage with many country music legends from Kitty Wells to Merle Haggard to Brad Paisley.
