The construction of a new Sheetz at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Fifth Street is on track with a tentative opening time frame of late December 2022 according to Public Relations Manager, Nicholas Ruffner.
The new, mega convenience store and gas station will be approximately 6,000 square feet with inside/outside seating and the capability to fuel 10 vehicles at one time.
“We are very excited to serve new customers in Ellwood City,” says Ruffner.
Based on the drawings presented to Ellwood City Borough Council last year, the gas pumps would flow parallel with 5th street— directly across from McDonalds—with the store positioned behind the bay of pumps. A main entrance to Sheetz would face Fountain Avenue.
“The existing traffic light will remain and the Sheetz entrance at that light will be added as a full access entrance controlled by the traffic signal lights,” says Ruffner.
Over the past weeks several residential houses were razed and the area is under preparation for the convenience store build. Our April real estate transfers report listed the fourteen property transfers totaling $1.9m purchased by RBG Ellwood LP/RBG Development Inc General Partner.
Currently, the closest Sheetz locations to Ellwood City are seven miles south in Beaver Falls and and nine miles north in New Castle according to Google Maps.
