Reed’s Services Presents 1st Annual “Dog Days Of Summer” Event

Come out and enjoy the dog days of summer!

Reed’s Pet & Livestock Feed & Supplies will be hosting its first annual “Dog Days Of Summer” fundraising event next month.

The event will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Ewing Park.

“We’re really looking forward to all of Ellwood coming out to support the K9 Unit. We’re also excited to bring back outdoor events and to continue to do this event for years to come,” said Chad Reed, one of the owners of Reed’s Pet & Livestock Feed & Supplies.

The event is a pet and family friendly event to help raise money for the Ellwood City Police Department.

Ellwood City’s former K9 has recently gone into retirement after nine years of service. Ellwood City does very well need an active K9, but the funding was going to be a problem for Ellwood to continue and start over with a new dog in their K9 program. Reed’s understood the importance of having an active K9, so they have decided to take on the task of raising the money needed for Ellwood to be able to continue their K9 program.

The goal is to raise $120,000.00.

The goal includes purchasing the dog, paying for the dog and handler training and all of the necessary equipment and accessories to outfit the dog and the handler for them to be able to do their job safely and efficiently. Any of the leftover money will remain in the Ellwood City K9 account in case the older 2012 K9 vehicle, that currently has a bad engine, would need to be replaced and for any unforeseen veterinarian needs.

The fundraising event will be pet and family friendly that will include several food, craft, tack and other types of vendors. There will also be vendors that will be serving dog food and dog treat products. There will be a corn hole and bocce tournament, pony rides and other activities for kids.

There will also be different levels of sponsorship’s that will be available for purchase. Monetary donations and items for the Chinese auction are also greatly appreciated. All checks must be written to the Ellwood City Police Department and have K9 Fund written in the memo section of the check. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at either of the Reed’s locations. All donations must be received by June 30th to be on the banner and for the t-shirts.
