Riverside Boys Track Collects Four WPIAL Individual Championships

The Riverside boys track team collected a total of four championships at the WPIAL Individual Championship meet at Slippery Rock University on Wednesday.

Colby Belczyk put on a show.

Belczyk won the 800m in 1:54.41 setting a new school record, breaking his own record of 1:54.99 and then teamed up with Alden Wetzel, Brody Barton, and Ty Fluharty, to win the 4×400 relay team with a personal best time of 3:27.65.

Hurdler Graham Kralic won the 300m hurdles with a personal best time of 41.96. Teddy McHale won the pole vault with a jump of 13’9”.

Ty Fluharty had a great day finishing second in the 800m with personal best time of 1:56.47. The 4×800 relay team of Fluharty, Noah Zelch, Sam Klein and Belczyk finished 3rd. Trevor McNeil also qualified for the state meet with a 3rd place finish in the pole vault.

The following Riverside girls and boys have qualified for the PIAA Championships:

Girls;
Sydney Hale, discuss, 4th place
Jordan Chesko, high jump, 3rd place
Aubriente Cleckley, 100 hurdles, 5th place

Boys:
Colby Belysk, 800M, WPIAL CHAMPION
Teddy McHale, pole vault, WPIAL CHAMPION
Graham Kralic, 300 hurdles, WPIAL CHAMPION
1600 Relay of Belczyk, Fluharty, Brody Barton, Alden Wetzel WPIAL CHAMPION
3200 Relay Fluharty, Zelch, Same Kelin, Belczyk 3rd place
Ty Fluharty, 800M 2nd place
Trevor McNeil, Pole Vault 3rd place

Many others local athletes had very strong performances. Qualifying athletes will next complete at Shippensburg over Memorial Day Weekend.
