EC Boys, RHS Girls Each Collect 2nd Place Finishes At 2024 Beaver County Championships

The Ellwood City Boys and Riverside Girls Track and Field Teams each collected 2nd Place finishes At Beaver County Championships Saturday at Helling Stadium. The Wolverine boys finished with 83 team points on the afternoon while the Panther girls collected 84.5 points. For Ellwood City, the four man relay team of Nick Wise, Bradley Custer, Drew Steffler, and Colten Crizer posted a 1st place finish in the Boys 4×800 Meter Relay (8:28.62). Riverside Girls Track Knocked Off In WPIAL Quarterfinals, Look Towards PIAA District 7 Championships

On a muggy, gray Western Pennsylvania afternoon early in May the Riverside Girls Track & Field Team finished in third place in the 2023 WPIAL Class 2A Track & Field quarterfinals. The Lady Panthers were defeated by Greensburg Central Catholic and Winston Thurston on May 4th, coming in third place out of the four team quarterfinal pod. Fluharty, Sturgeon Earn 1st Place Finishes At MAC Track & Field Championships

Riverside’s Lexi Fluharty and Ellwood City’s Delaney Sturgeon each took home a 1st place finish in their respective event at the MAC Championships on Wednesday at Shenango High School. Fluharty, a junior, turned in a personal record time of 11:38.39 in the Girls 3200m Run to capture 1st place, shattering a 25-year-old school record in the process. Fluharty also finished 4th place in the 1600m Run with a time of 5:23.46. Fluharty swept the two distance running events at the Beaver County Track & Field Championships earlier this month. Panthers Have Set Of MVPs, Set Javelin Record In Beaver County Track & Field Championships

Saturday marked the 50th Beaver County Track and Field Championships competition held at Riverside High School. Ellwood City and Riverside teams were well represented and turned in some podium-worthy performances and all four teams put together top ten finishes. Riverside Panthers Lexi Fluharty earned Most Valuable Performance on the track while Carlee Crawford earned Most Valuable Performance in the field to highlight a Lady Panthers team that finished second overall in the Beaver County Track Championships. The Ellwood City boys track and field team swept its season opening meet this week, earning victories over Riverside and Union. The girls track team split their meet, with a victory over Union, but were bested by rival Riverside. “It’s a great start to the season and having the win against the cross-town rivals who have long been known for success on the track simply adds to the celebration,” said head coach Nate Brown. Ellwood City is hungry for more. The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday August 10, 2022, and recognized student athletes from Lincoln and Riverside Schools for their accomplishments these past school years. The Club recognizes local citizens who excel in their school or perform volunteer work in the community, epitomizing the Clubs moto: “Pro Bono Publico”-For the Good of the Public. This month’s recognition certificates went to members of the 2021 Lincoln Volleyball Team who won their first ever Section Title in 2021.
