Riverside Lions Club Participates in Work Weekend

District Governor Chips Campbell and Lion Mike Milnes of the Riverside Lions recently participated in a District 14 N Work Weekend at the Beacon Lodge Camp in Mt. Union, PA.

The work weekend helps the camp get ready for the incoming campers. This has been maintained by the Lions of Pennsylvania and is designed specially to host the blind and visually impaired in the state.

The complex offers three different areas for housing including a Children’s Village, Adult Village and the dorm buildings. It also has a miniature golf course, shooting range, a rock climbing wall and many more fun activities for the campers to participate in.

In the photo below, it is shown that the camp also offers a service to disabled Veterans called Project New Hope. Two weekends in August, disabled Veterans and their loved ones are able to enjoy the amenities that the camp has to offer. The service is completely free and comes with everything including the meals.

The Riverside Lions have recently been given the opportunity to donate nine dozen pairs of disposable goggles to aid the North Sewickley VFD, North Sewickley Supevisors, Franklin Townships VFD and Police Department, Riverside School, Beacon Lodge, Wurtemburg/Perry VFD and NOGA Ambulance service.

A Pop-up Food and Hygiene Products drive was also held last week in Ellport. 100 homes were tagged in one day and donations were collected the next and were donated Holy Redeemer Social Services, making this the fifth collection done in the last year.
