Local Man Dreams of Top Dog Position: Driving the Wienermobile

Brian Hudson has a dream: He wants to drive the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Yes, all in the name of hot dogs. He loves them. He loves eating them. He loves learning about new toppings. He loves talking about them. He loves promoting them.

And that is what has driven him, pardon the pun, to apply to be the #1 hotdogger … the Wienermobile Spokesperson.

Hudson the 22-year-old graduate of Lincoln High School, who prefers his dogs Western Pennsylvania style with chili and cheese, said he first learned of the opportunity from his mom who heard about the opportunity on the radio while driving to work.

“I love hot dogs and I love traveling, so it’s a perfect opportunity,” he said.

He has been invited by Oscar Mayer to an information session on February 22nd.

“The email said it is mandatory to attend to continue in the recruitment process,” he said.

Hudson, whose Twitter account is titled Curious Kielbasa, is on a mission. At the end of January, he tweeted, “The 40 Days of Dogs starts now! I will be posting videos of me eating 40 unique franks in an effort to prove just how versatile this superfood is. All of this, in an effort to secure the best job on earth.”

Hudson tagged @oscarmayer in the hopes of catching their attention. He also officially applied to the job, which Oscar Mayer said requires “an outgoing, creative, friendly, exuberant, college graduate who has an appetite for adventure and is willing to see the country through the windshield of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.”

Hudson said he is the best candidate out there, besides his adoration of everything hot dogs, he is professionally ready for the self-guided and motivated role. Professionally, he has been responsible for daily and month-end accounting reconciliations on more than 160 accounts in order to identify and remove discrepancies while supporting successful implementation of a new portfolio accounting software. He also has achieved development and implementation of an employee tracking system—a task which required extensive travel.

However, Hudson describes his credentials best in his own words. In a letter to Oscar Mayer, he was “frank” about his love of hot dogs and even managed to give a shout out to his favorite hometown hot dog shop.

“Equipped with a Double Major in Finance and Management coupled with ‘frank’ experience in eating hot dogs, grilling top-tier glizzies, and an unmatched longing for more Red-Hots I am the perfect candidate for this position,” he said.

Hudson continued, “From generating and analyzing financial reports and overseeing account reconciliations to eating over one hundred hot dogs per year, I excel in strategically performing all aspects of hot doggery. My demonstrated success as an intern took me on a journey up and down the east coast to present my HR program to Operations Managers, but it would be much more fun and rewarding to present seven tons of Coney Island to anyone who is willing to listen. All of this, coupled with my semester spent in Gold Coast, Australia has led me to become one curious kielbasa.”

Besides eating hot dogs, Hudson enjoys traveling, playing golf, long distance running, and playing music.

“I release music videos on Twitter every Sunday,” Hudson said. “I released a 10-minute music video for the Super Bowl. I have released nine songs in total so far, in which I play all of the instruments and sing all of the vocals”

The songs he has parodied so far include:

  • What’s the Use – Mac Miller
  • Gin and Juice – Snoop Dogg
  • Thunderstruck – AC/DC
  • Folsom Prison Blues – Johnny Cash
  • Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Blinding Lights – The Weekend
  • Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond
  • Living on a Prayer – Bon Jovi
  • Bad Guy – Billie Eilish

He releases a video every day using the following schedule:

  • Monday: Homemade Hot Dog Review.
  • Tuesday: Homemade Hot Dog Review.
  • Wednesday: Skits, Memes, or Music.
  • Thursday: Local Hot Dog Review.
  • Friday: Skits, Memes, or Music.
  • Saturday: Skits, Memes, or Music.
