Venezie Sporting Goods & Apparel Announces 2021 Scholarships

Venezie Sporting Goods & Apparel has announced its annual scholarship opportunity for area students this year.  The scholarship, now in its third year, will be available to four local school districts.

“We love our community and we love our students, and it is time we continue to recognize them for all their hard work inside and outside of the classroom,” said Vice President of Operations, Vanessa Venezie.

Venezie Sporting Goods will be awarding a scholarship to an Ellwood City, Riverside, Beaver Falls, and New Brighton senior this year. Each scholarship is valued at $500.00.

Venezie came up with the idea of starting a scholarship all while sitting at her younger brother Luca Botti’s graduation ceremony from Lincoln High School in 2018.

“While sitting at my brother’s graduation I realized there weren’t many scholarships for athletes or extracurricular activities locally who also excelled in the classroom,” Venezie said. “I remembered when I was in school there was a scholarship offered for students who participated in a sport each season and held a 3.0 GPA, and I wanted to bring something like that back!”

“Confidence, responsibility, commitment, trust, determination and accountability are just some of the qualities they develop from focusing on both, and that should be rewarded.”

In order to be considered the student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and submit a 500 word written essay.  Applications will only be accepted until April 15, 2021.
