(Ellwood City) Levi Smith and Kathryn Coyne, graduates of Lincoln and Riverside high schools, respectively, have been selected to receive $750 scholarships from the Ellwood City Hungarian Home.
Smith, a son of Joanne Smith of Harmony, plans to attend Drexel University in Philadelphia this fall and major in accounting.
Coyne, a daughter of Robert and Margaret Coyne of Beaver Falls, also plans to attend Drexel University and major in product design.
Smith and Coyne were selected by Hungarian Home Scholarship Committee members George Bokor, Bill Baker, Jim Hrabosky, Patty Takacs and Don Melfi, and were honored at a luncheon Aug. 9.
Scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic achievement, work ethic, volunteerism and school activities.
The Ellwood City Hungarian Home plans to continue the scholarship program. The scholarship is named in honor of a longtime officer of the organization, John Takacs.
