Wolverines Varsity Softball Leads In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Shenango

Wolverines defeated Shenango 10-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four with Wolverines batting in the bottom of the fifth when Maria Ioanilli grounded out, scoring one run.

Shenango got on the board in the first inning when Kaylyn Chapman doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Shenango knotted the game up at four in the top of the fourth inning. Allyson Rubin drew a walk, scoring one run.

Wolverines notched four runs in the third inning. Wolverines’s big bats in the inning were led by a single by Anna Ferrucci and an error on a ball put in play by Ariana Garroway.

Madi Krugh led things off on the rubber for Wolverines. She lasted seven innings, allowing 12 hits and five runs while striking out two.

Mia Edwards was on the rubber for Shenango. She lasted four and a third innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out four. Peterson threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Wolverines totaled ten hits in the game. Reagan Mittler and Garroway all collected multiple hits for Wolverines. Mittler led Wolverines with three hits in four at bats.

Shenango racked up 12 hits on the day. Alliya Allwine, Chapman, Rubin, and Kaylee Montanari all had multiple hits for Shenango. Allwine went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Shenango in hits.
