EC Junior High Softball Team Now 5-0 After 12-0 Victory Over Freedom

The Lady Wolverines pounded out 13 hits at Stiefel Park on Monday evening in a game halted after 5 innings by the Mercy Rule.

Aliya Garroway and Grace Balin led the offensive onslaught with 2 hits apiece. Garroway tripled and doubled while Balin tripled and singled. Jenna Vetica, Jaidyn Leviere, and Maddie Hicks each contributed doubles in the contest with Leviere’s being her first career hit at the junior high level. Kyla Servick, Kali Barnett, Angie Nardone, Mollie Street, Trinity Arlet, and Kaylani Leos all added singles. Katelyn Wehman scored twice as she was able to draw 3 walks and Chloe Duncan also scored after receiving a free pass.

Nardone got the win in the circle as she went the first three innings. She allowed just 1 hit while fanning 6 and walking 4. Garroway went the final two innings. She also allowed just 1 hit as she whiffed 6 without issuing a walk.

The defense once again turned in an errorless performance led by shortstop Street and right fielder Vetica. Street retired one batter on a popup and another on a ground ball. Vetica made the play of the game once again as she ended an inning with a diving grab on a sinking liner.

Unless a makeup game is rescheduled, the young ladies will take the field next on Friday evening. First pitch with Mohawk at Stiefel Park is set for 6pm.
