Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. The Wolverines (3-2 overall) fired up the offense in the first inning, when Anna Ferrucci singled scoring the game’s first run. Ellwood City scored in every inning thereafter including a 9-run outburst in the second frame.
Natalia Greco, Breonna Streit, Maria Ioanilli, Mittler, Makinley Magill, and Ariana Garroway all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the second inning.
Madi Krugh toed the rubber for Wolverines. She surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings.
Amelia Bailey led things off on the hill for Riverside. She surrendered 13 runs on 13 hits over one inning, walking one. Taryn Schmidt threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Wolverines scattered 16 hits in the game which saw every started collect at least one hit. Greco, Mittler, Ferrucci, Garroway, Maura Agostinelli, and Ioanilli each collected multiple hits for Wolverines. Greco led Wolverines with three hits in four at bats including two doubles. Ioanilli collected two triples in the contest.
Emma Beacham went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Riverside in hits.
