16 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Little Beaver Township

According to the criminal complaint, Kevin Walter Davenport, 25, of Redford Township, Michigan, will be facing a felony and misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana with intent to sell after a traffic stop on September 19. An officer conducted a traffic stop with Davenport’s vehicle around 9a.m. near Little Beaver Township for a turn signal violation. During the stop the officer noticed indicators consistent with criminal activity and asked for permission to search the vehicle. A search revealed 18 vacuum sealed packages containing suspected marijuana, which were packaged for wholesale distribution. All of the packages combined together had an approximate weight of 16 pounds. All evidence was seized and later tested positive for marijuana.

 

Ellwood Man Charged for Armed Robbery in 2016

After leading police on a wild chase in 2016, (story here) Shawn A. Hobel, 35 of 2188 Center Church Rd., he is now finally facing charges for one of several suspected armed robberies committed in 2016. According to the complaint, on December 11, 2016, police were dispatched to the Uni-Mart in Ellwood City at approximately 11:20p.m. to investigate an armed robbery. The store clerk revealed the actor had entered the building brandishing a hand gun and wearing a gray zippered hoodie and black ski mask. Hobel pointed the gun at the clerk’s head and demanded all the money and 5 packs of Newport cigarettes. Hobel left the scene undetected and was described as being relaxed, clam and in no hurry. On December 13, Hobel lead officers on a chase with a female passenger in the car. After the chase came to an end the passenger was interviewed and stated that the two had went to drug and alcohol classes together and became friends. She also stated that Hobel advised her he was going to be making the news and that he had been robbing several stores to get drugs, cigarettes and gas and that he uses a black ski mask to hide his identity. One of the stores Hobel admitted to robbing was the Uni-Mart in Ellwood City. Police searched Hobel’s vehicle and uncovered one black ski mask, one gray zip hoodie, one open Newport cigarette box, and one black Responder 911 air-soft gun (1911 style pistol). After reviewing the photographs and surveillance, the clothing and gun matched the description of the suspect robber on December 11. Hobel is now facing a felony charge of robbery, and two misdemeanor charges for theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
