Ellwood City Wolverines Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Beaver Falls

Ellwood City Wolverines defeated Beaver Falls 7-6 in a back-and-forth affair on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the top of the sixth when Jordan Recce reached on a dropped third strike.

Despite falling down by four runs in the seventh inning, Beaver Falls tried to fight back. Beaver Falls scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Trent Whippo and a fielder’s choice by Spencer Kohlmann.

Beaver Falls captured the lead in the first inning. Beaver Falls scored one run when Ty Garrett singled with two outs in the first inning.

After Ellwood City Wolverines scored three runs in the top of the seventh, Beaver Falls answered with three of their own. Ellwood City Wolverines scored when Noah Rinker singled off of Daunte Hill, driving in one run, Shane Sedgwick laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, and there was an error, scoring one run. Beaver Falls then answered when Whippo singled off of Rinker, driving in two runs and Rinker induced Kohlmann to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Beaver Falls knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kohlmann singled on a 3-2 count in the fifth inning, scoring one run.

Tyler Good earned the win for Ellwood City Wolverines. He threw five and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, seven hits, and striking out three. Cameron Kern took the loss for Beaver Falls. He went five and a third innings, allowing four runs, seven hits, striking out two, and walking one.

Ellwood City Wolverines collected ten hits. Rick Pitrelli and Anthony Roth each collected multiple hits for Ellwood City Wolverines. Sedgwick went 1-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with two runs batted in.

Beaver Falls had ten hits in the game. Garrett, Dalton Cleckley, and Mike Filauri each collected multiple hits for Beaver Falls. Garrett went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Beaver Falls in hits.

 

 

4-Hit Day for Dambach Leads Riverside Panthers Varsity Past Mohawk

Austin Dambach collected four hits in five at bats, as Riverside Panthers Varsity defeated Mohawk Area 10-3 on Wednesday. Dambach doubled in the first, tripled in the second, homered in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

An early lead helped propel Riverside Panthers Varsity to victory. Riverside Panthers Varsity scored on a double by Austin Dambach in the first inning, a single by Cristian Cicchinelli in the first inning, a double by Ty Thellman in the second inning, and a triple by Dambach in the second inning.

Riverside Panthers Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Dambach doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run.

Riverside Panthers Varsity scored four runs in the second inning. Riverside Panthers Varsity scored on a double by Thellman and a triple by Dambach.

Gunnar Boehm earned the win for Riverside Panthers Varsity. He pitched three and a third innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out five. Thellman threw two and two-thirds innings, as two relievers helped Riverside Panthers Varsity finish off the victory. Strawhecker took the loss for Mohawk Area. He went three and a third innings, giving up nine runs, eight hits, and striking out one.

Riverside Panthers Varsity collected 13 hits. Dambach and Thellman each collected multiple hits for Riverside Panthers Varsity.

Mohawk Area had ten hits in the game. Pitzer, Conti, and Cameron each collected multiple hits for Mohawk Area.
