CCBC Appoints Industry Expert to Lead Process Technology Program and Adds Daytime Classes

Monaca, PA –Michael Martino, a CCBC alumnus and Hopewell Township native, has been appointed to a full-time process technology faculty and leadership position at Community College of Beaver County. Martino brings with him 40 years of experience in oil refining, including 25 years of process operations experience.

With this new appointment, the College will be able to grow program enrollment by offering both day and evening cohorts while strengthening industry partnerships to help address current and future employment needs in the county.

Michael Martino, a CCBC alumnus and Hopewell Township native, has been appointed to a full-time process technology faculty and leadership position at Community College of Beaver County.

“After an extensive search, we are fortunate to welcome Professor Martino, with his wealth of experience, training expertise, and student-focused efforts, to this important educational role for our college and our community,” said Dr. Roger W. Davis, Executive Vice President and Provost. “He has worked in all areas of the industry and will bring his extensive experience into the classroom to provide hands-on training and better prepare our students for the workforce.”

In his professional career, Martino has held several positions at Marathon Petroleum LP in Kentucky, including Process Operator, Shift Foreman, Process Specialist, Operations Foreman, and, most recently, Senior Training Specialist. Throughout his career, he has supervised, trained, and qualified Process Operators throughout the state of Kentucky. Martino has leadership experience in staff development, process and productivity improvements, performance management, project management and curriculum design. In his most recent position, he was responsible for developing corporate lesson plans; teaching procedural writing; and creating corporate master curriculum catalogs. He also served as a corporate training representative and site auditor for compliance on the corporate training standard.

Martino is involved in the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) and Association for Talent Development (ATD). He holds certifications in Tap Root Incident Investigation, LEAN Manufacturing, the Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning, ATD Facilitation Skills, ATD Project Management for learning principles, and ATD Power Presentations.

“Mr. Martino will enhance and strengthen the College’s relationships with our industry partners and collaborate with them to ensure that the training our students receive addresses workforce needs on all levels,” said John Goberish, Dean of Workforce and Continuing Education.

Martino will assume his role at CCBC in January 2017 for the start of the spring semester.
