Tyler Alberts, a senior at Lincoln High School and team captain of their wrestling team, has been wrestling for a total of 12 years and plans on wrestling for at least the next four after he signed his letter of intent today to attend Wheeling Jesuit University.

The university offered Alberts a scholarship for wrestling and education.

Alberts said that after visiting six separate universities, he knew Jesuit was the right one.

“I really like the coach, the team, and over all the entire campus. It’s close to home and I know I can get a good education there,” Alberts said, further stating that his chosen major is business.

Alberts family is extremely excited for him, but it is unlikely that anyone is quite as excited and proud as Alberts father, Craig, who is the current head coach of the wrestling team at Lincoln. albert3wm-2

“He made a great choice, the education and wrestling is top notch. He can look forward to working hard all over again,” the Head Coach encouragingly stated.

Alberts wrote a commentary regarding his opportunity to attend Jesuit University:

I am very thankful to the Ellwood City Area School District for all the support it has given to the wrestling team that has provided me with this opportunity to go to college and continue my education and to compete in wrestling. Throughout the last year I have visited many great school and through much conversation with my parents and coaches I felt the best fit for me was Wheeling Jesuit University. It is a Highly Competitive Division II school and I am very excited to go there and work hard and compete at the next level. From the start I had a feeling that i was going to go there because I really like the coach, campus, and all the wrestlers on the team. I now have to focus on doing my best this HS season.

Congratulations, and best of luck to you at University, Tyler!
