John A. Pistachio, 74

John A. Pistachio, 74, of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015 in his residence. Pistachio was born on Jan. 14, 1941 in Ellwood City to the late Samuel R. and Lucy K. (Greco) Pistachio, Sr.

He had attended Lincoln High School, and served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 22, 1958 until his discharge on Jan. 12, 1962 as a aviation machinist mate. While growing up, John worked at his families service station and junkyard. Following his service with the Navy he worked at Tita Brothers, and then with the Babcock and Wilcox Steel Mill for 26 years as a machinist. After the B&W closed, John worked for Ryman Engineering for several years. He enjoyed working on cars and carving wooden walking sticks. His greatest joy was helping in raising his grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughter, Beth Pistachio-Boyd and her companion Michael Sinibald and his son Michael Sinibald II of Ellwood City, his grandchildren, Randi (Pat) Boyd-Meister, and Nicholas Boyd, his brothers, Samuel (Linda) Pistachio, Jr. of Mechanicsville, Md., Kenneth Pistachio of New Castle, Arthur (Lori) Pistachio of New Castle, and his sisters, Carol Pistachio of Ellwood City, Rose Marie (Gino) Putrino of Endicott, N.Y., Barbara (Clinton) Couse of Warren, Pa., and his former wife, Judith Hobrat Pistachio of New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lucille Pistachio, his brother, David Pistachio and his sister-in-law, Marsha Pistachio. As per John’s wishes there will not be a public visitation or service.
