Police: Shoplifting, Marijuana and DUI

Shoplifting at Dollar General

  • According to the criminal complain, on Oct. 21 around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a reported shoplifting at Dollar General on 1221 Lawrence Ave. An employee informed officers that two females had shoplifted a white t-shirt, gray in color baseball cap and a bra with a total value of approximately $23. Investigating officers reviewed a surveillance video and identified the suspects as Rebecca Irwin, 30, and Melissa Sabo, 34, both of Ellwood City. Irwin and Sabo each have three prior convictions for retail theft. They were both charged with two counts of retail theft.

Marijuana, Public Drunkenness

  • According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 5 around 1:30 a.m., an officer parked at Marshal Funeral Home observed Michael Viccari, 26, of Ellwood City, running through the parking lot. The officer observed Viccari stash something in front of bushes. The officer called to Viccari, who responded. Viccari said he had stashed an open beer bottle in the bushes, and the officer also found a baggie of suspected marijuana on the ground. Viccari was charged with public drunkenness and possession of a controlled substance.

DUI

  • According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 4 around 1:20 a.m., an officer patrolling Ellport observed a truck traveling east on Portersville Road at a extremely high rate of speed. The officer pulled over the truck and identified the driver as Richard Husing, 25, of Ellwood City. Husing failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital. He was charged with a DUI.
