69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament Starts Monday

The 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament will begin Monday night at Freidhoff Field at the Ewing Park Baseball Complex. The tournament, which began in 1952, will double-elimination three-game minimum per team format. The teams entered in the tournament are host Ellwood City, Riverside, Neshannock, Seneca Valley North and Mohawk. The teams participating represent some of the most successful baseball programs in western Pennsylvania. These programs have contributed to their respective high schools capturing 68 section titles, 20 WPIAL championships and nine PIAA state crowns. Ellwood City defeated Mars, 4-2, to win the 68th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field Sunday night. Ellwood City, which went undefeated in the tournament, won the title for the first time since 2008. Cheered on by a large home crowd, Ellwood City rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. Ellwood City downed Saxonburg, 12-6, in the 68th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field Wednesday night. Landis allowed one hit over four innings and smacked two singles and a double to lead Ellwood City.  Ellwood City scored two runs in the top of the first inning.  Jordan Keller led off with a single, stole second base and scored on an RBI-single by Tristan Nash. 68th Ellwood City Little League Tournament Begins This Week

The 68th Ellwood City Little League Tournament, the oldest tournament in the area, began Tuesday night at Friedhoff Field in Ewing Park. New Brighton squared off against Neshannock on Tuesday in the opening game. Ellwood City will meet Saxonburg on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.  Ellwood City will be seeking its first championship since 2008.  Wilmington collected the tournament championship last year while Riverside has been crown champion three times in the last 10 years. It’s that time of year again – the Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Registration (ECABF) is looking for players for the upcoming season.  Registration is currently ongoing and will be open until March 8, 2019 for the spring baseball season. Potter Baseball Tour Stops In Ellwood City

The Potter Baseball Tour made its ninth annual stop in Ellwood City on Friday, July 13. Led by former Ellwood City baseball standout Jeff Potter, the tour visits over 30 cities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and Virginia throughout July. The first tour game was played nine years ago on July 2, 2010 at Sanders Field. Since then the tour has become a staple in towns throughout the Middle Atlantic states.
