Riverside golfer Reece Pilarski has qualified for the WPIAL 2A Boys’ Individual Golf Championship after firing a round of 86 on Monday to advance. The Panther senior finished with a a round of (44-42. +16) on Monday at the Par-70 Hannastown Golf Club in Greensburg, PA. Pilarski collected four pars on the afternoon. Ellwood City Freshman Jordan Keller fired a round of 78 on Monday at Green Meadows Golf Course to qualify and advance to the WPIAL Class 2A Semifinals. Keller finished 5th overall in the Section V qualifier event, easily besting a target score of 86 to advance. The longest losing streak (27 games) in the WPIAL is officially over as the Wolverines cruised to their first victory in 4 years, defeating the Carlynton Cougars 46-6 on Friday night. The Cougars started the night off with electing to receive the ball after winning the coin toss, showing that they wanted to start on offense early. Riverside Swimming Collects WPIAL Relay Golds, Roth Sets WPIAL Record

The Riverside Boys Swimming team collected a WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events and set WPIAL records – both collectively and individually – along the way during the WPIAL Swimming Championships this past weekend at the University of Pittsburgh. The 200-yard Freestyle relay Gold was the program’s third consecutive crown. Ellwood City wrestlers Ben Gallenz and Derek Allen each earned three victories in the WPIAL AA Wrestling Championships over the weekend at Canon-McMillan High School. Allen earned a 7th place finish while Gallenz was defeated in the third consolation round of his weight class. Fellow wrestler, and senior, Donovan Stiffler earned two victories in his weight classes. The Riverside Boys Soccer team is set to face the 2-seed Winchester Thurston Bears Tuesday evening in the WPIAL Class A semifinals. The Panthers, who entered the playoffs as an 11-seed, have knocked off two higher seeds en route to their semifinals appearance. Riverside defeated Trinity Christian 2-1 last Tuesday in the opening round and then upset #3 Sewickley Academy 2-1 on Saturday to continue their playoff journey. Ellwood City and Riverside Cross Country teams had a collective five runners qualify for PIAA State Championships as a result of their individual finishes at the WPIAL Championships held Thursday at California University of Pennsylvania. For Ellwood City, Colton Crizer and Joel Brooks earned qualifying times while Ty Fluherty qualified in the WPIAL Boys Championships. Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event. The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship. For the Wolverines, this is their second consecutive undefeated section championship season under head coach Mark Hall. “I couldn’t be more proud of this whole team,” says Hall.
