Wampum’s Wine & Beer Festival Set For March 24

The Wampum Area Revitalization Committee will hold a Wine & Beer Festival from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on March 24th at the Wampum Gymnasium, located at 372 Main Street. Regional craft beer and wine makers will be present to offer tastings and products. Food and appetizers will be provided by the Lawrence County Career and Technology Center ( LCCTC) Restaurant Trade Program direct by Jennifer Price. Dear Editor, The town of Wampum is small in population, just 620 when everyone is at home, but big in heart and action.  Wampum is midway between New Castle and Beaver Falls and just a short drive west of Ellwood City.  This past Saturday, December 2nd, we held our 45th Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade, and our little town’s population swelled into the thousands, our largest crowd ever. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Celebrates Dr. Seuss Publications

Wampum, PA – Each year, the Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee prepares floats that do not compete in the popular float contest. They like to add to parade line-up each to assure new and fresh content to complement the familiar traditions. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Treat Sign-ups

The Wampum Area Christmas Parade is on  Dec. 2nd 2017 at 1 pm.  As in previous years, children aged 12 and under can meet Santa after the Parade in the gymnasium and Santa will give them a treat bag.  However, children must be registered in advance for the treat bag.  Treat bags are free to Wampum area children. Wampum Light Up Night Announced

Wampum Area Business Association announces its Light Up the Town Night on Thursday, November 30, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m. They will be dedicating the “all new over the street Christmas Decorations” that were purchased by donations from local businesses and the community. The evening will be highlighted by a horse drawn carriage ride through town, entertainment by Dance Expressions, Diamond Dance, Studio P, and the Northside Kindergarten Carolers.  The New Castle Clogger Club will also perform.  DJ Rockin Ryan will provide music throughout the evening. Bernstine Announces $460,000 to Improve Drinking Water in Wampum

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that $460,000 in state funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST) will allow Wampum Borough in Lawrence County to move forward with its plans to improve municipal drinking water. “The quality of water in Wampum has been an issue for many years,” Bernstine said. “I was happy to work with the local elected officials, as well as the state, to expedite the process of this grant. Erratic Driver Accused of Threatening to Shoot Local Family

Updated at 2:10p.m. 7/19 Erik Sobel is facing charges of disorderly conduct and reckless driving after an incident that occurred on the evening of July 12. According to the police report, officers observed Sobel driving at a high rate of speed and erratically through the town trying to get the officers attention. Multiple complaints came in about Sobel’s driving and that he was threatening the Pounds and Johnsons.
