Lincoln High Grad Stars in BC3 Golf Debut

Tyler Good, a 2017 Lincoln High graduate in his first appearance with the Butler County Community College golf team, shot a 4-over 76 Friday to lead the Pioneers to an eight-stroke victory over Westmoreland County Community College in Apollo. Stiefel Hockey Summer Season Wrapup: Firing Squad and Goose Take Division Titles

The Stiefel Hockey league completed its summer season by crowning champions in both its “A” and “B” divisions.  In the “A” division Goose captured the title after sweeping Young’s Barber Shop in a best of 3 championship.  Matt Puntureri led the way for Goose picking up 21 goals in 4 playoff games with help from his brothers Nate, Michael, and Tyler. Defense Shines for Both Teams, Vikings Win by Late Field Goal

Defense wins championships. It’s the famous phrase by many in football. Both teams on the field friday night proved worthy of winning based upon defensive play; however, only one team may prevail. The Hopewell Vikings were able to get that last push to win last night’s game over the Wolverines. Riverside and Lincoln Football Tickets for Sale

Student tickets for Riverside High School’s home game Friday will only be available from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily this week at the district athletic office. No sales will occur during lunch. Student tickets are $2, but are not available at the gate before the game. Tickets at the gate are $5. Ellwood City vs. Hopewell tickets are being pre-sold at the high school, no student tickets will be sold at the gate. Student tickets are $3 and adults are $5.  


WXED to Air Live Wolverines Football Coverage

Ellwood City’s very own radio station, WXED, will now be airing the Wolverine’s home games live, hosted by their resident on-air personality, Troy Robert. First Game of Season: Wolverines Vs. Central Valley

The Ellwood City Wolverines football team will be challenged by Central Valley this Friday during their first official match of the season. The game will be played at Helling Stadium and presale tickets are now being sold. Tickets can be purchased at the high school’s main office today, Thursday 8/31, from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm and tomorrow, Friday 9/1, from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The cost of the tickets are as follows: Students $1.00 Adults $4.00 No student tickets will be sold at the gate on Friday all tickets will be $5.00.

Rosalindo Morales Jr., a 23-year-old Ellwood City native, reigned champion in his first professional boxing match on Saturday, August 12 at the Rivers Casino, against opponent Adam Young of Memphis, Tennessee. Tiffin University right-hander Michael Boswell finished his rookie campaign with five wins in 11 appearances, helping the Dragons post their best winning percentage in program history. For his efforts, Boswell was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the first time a Tiffin player has ever taken the award. Boswell finished second on the team in innings and wins, and averaged 8.02 strikeouts per nine innings.
