Nicholas Ioanilli, Lincoln graduate of 2016 is now attending Colgate and playing for their football team as a middle linebacker. Some Ellwood City football players will be facing suspension after a brawl last Friday night following the football game versus Valley. According to an article on New Castle News, Principal Kirk Lape stated the school was notified by the PIAA that players had been disqualified from the contest with Valley and will now be required to sit out Friday’s home game against Beaver. Lape, athletic director Curt Agostinelli, and head coach Nick Hand will be meeting with Valley and WPIAL officials to further discuss the incident. At this time it is unclear which individuals have been suspended.

Last Friday, a teacher from Ellwood City and Beaver Falls squared against each other in a football-tossing challenge, called Alex’s Lemonade Stand, to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer. The fundraising idea came from Cara Atkinson, leader of the Hope Club at Ellwood City, who said the outcome was definitely worth it and that she hopes to do it again next year. Ellwood won raising $982 and Beaver Falls raised $502. $300 was raised at the game and Ellwood continued their fundraising all this week to hopefully reach a final goal of $2,000.
