Ellwood City Wolves Recognizes Area Student Athletes

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday August 10, 2022, and recognized student athletes from Lincoln and Riverside Schools for their accomplishments these past school years. The Club recognizes local citizens who excel in their school or perform volunteer work in the community, epitomizing the Clubs moto: “Pro Bono Publico”-For the Good of the Public. This month’s recognition certificates went to members of the 2021 Lincoln Volleyball Team who won their first ever Section Title in 2021. Riverside Claims PIAA State Relay Championships; Roth Sets State Record

Led by two relay state titles and a dominating individual performance by Joseph Roth, Riverside finished second overall in the Class-2A PIAA Swimming Championships at Bucknell University. On Friday, the Panther relay team collected a state title in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The team, consisting of Ryan Turner, Sam Kline, and brothers Joseph and Alexander Roth, finished with a time of 1:25.86 with individual splits of 21.24 (J. Roth) 21.39 (Kline) 22.07 (Turner) 21.16 (A. Roth). Panthers Set to Compete At PIAA Swimming Championships

The 2022 PIAA Swimming Championships are slated to begin this week at Kinney Natatorium located on the campus of Bucknell University. For the Riverside Panthers, winners of WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events among others earlier this month, they will look to showcase its talent at the championships that begin with Class 2A prelims Friday. Head coach Bill Valli is very excited and optimistic about the chances of the athletes to reach Saturday’s finals. Riverside Swimming Collects WPIAL Relay Golds, Roth Sets WPIAL Record

The Riverside Boys Swimming team collected a WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events and set WPIAL records – both collectively and individually – along the way during the WPIAL Swimming Championships this past weekend at the University of Pittsburgh. The 200-yard Freestyle relay Gold was the program’s third consecutive crown. Riverside Swim Team Defends Section Title, Eyes WPIAL Championships

For a fourth consecutive year, the Riverside High School Swim Team has earned section championship bragging rights. The boys finished a perfect 8-0 in their Class-AA section with their latest victory against the Beaver Bobcats on February 17th The co-op swimming team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes will next look towards defending various titles at the WPIAL Championships later this week, Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The Riverside swimming team earned a pair of golds in the 200 and 400 meter free relays at the 2021 WPIAL Class-AA Swimming Championships on Saturday at Upper St. Clair High School while Joseph Roth earned a WPIAL gold medal in the individual 100-meter backstroke and set a WPIAL record along the way. The first place finish in the 200 meter free relay event earned Riverside a repeat gold medal performance. The co-op swimming team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes is off to the WPIAL Championships this weekend carrying their third consecutive undefeated Class-AA section title with them. Class AA and Class AAA championship meets March 6-7 at Upper St. Clair High School. Riverside Boy’s Swimming Team Off To PIAA State Championships

After earning WPIAL gold on Day One of the WPIAL Swimming Championships on Thursday, the Riverside boys’ swimming again placed well on Day Two of the Class-AA WPIAL championship meet. Senior Josiah Shaffer posted a 2.17 second time drop in the 100 breast, securing a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:01:64. Sophomore Alexander Roth, juniors Graham Kralic and Hayden Panek, and freshman Sam Kline also secured a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard free relay after posting a notable 6.18-second drop for a 3:20:57 finish. Riverside Boys Relay Team Captures Gold In Day 1 Of WPIAL Championships

The Riverside Panthers boys’ swim relay team took home WPIAL gold on Thursday in Day 1 of the WPIAL swimming championships at Joe C. Trees Pool at the University of Pittsburgh.
