Panthers Set to Compete At PIAA Swimming Championships

The 2022 PIAA Swimming Championships are slated to begin this week at Kinney Natatorium located on the campus of Bucknell University. For the Riverside Panthers, winners of WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events among others earlier this month, they will look to showcase its talent at the championships that begin with Class 2A prelims Friday. Head coach Bill Valli is very excited and optimistic about the chances of the athletes to reach Saturday’s finals. Riverside Swimming Collects WPIAL Relay Golds, Roth Sets WPIAL Record

The Riverside Boys Swimming team collected a WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events and set WPIAL records – both collectively and individually – along the way during the WPIAL Swimming Championships this past weekend at the University of Pittsburgh. For a fourth consecutive year, the Riverside High School Swim Team has earned section championship bragging rights. The boys finished a perfect 8-0 in their Class-AA section with their latest victory against the Beaver Bobcats on February 17th The co-op swimming team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes will next look towards defending various titles at the WPIAL Championships later this week, Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The Riverside swimming team earned a pair of golds in the 200 and 400 meter free relays at the 2021 WPIAL Class-AA Swimming Championships on Saturday at Upper St. Clair High School while Joseph Roth earned a WPIAL gold medal in the individual 100-meter backstroke and set a WPIAL record along the way. Riverside Boy’s Swimming Team Off To PIAA State Championships

After earning WPIAL gold on Day One of the WPIAL Swimming Championships on Thursday, the Riverside boys’ swimming again placed well on Day Two of the Class-AA WPIAL championship meet. Senior Josiah Shaffer posted a 2.17 second time drop in the 100 breast, securing a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:01:64. The Riverside Panthers boys’ swim relay team took home WPIAL gold on Thursday in Day 1 of the WPIAL swimming championships at Joe C. Trees Pool at the University of Pittsburgh. Panther Swimming Team Heading To WPIAL Championships

After a close meet on February 13th, Riverside boys varsity swimming edged out Beaver 99-83, earning their second undefeated section championship. Girls swimming also claimed a win, beating the Bobcats 89-85 for an overall a 6-2 season record. Riverside’s Swim Team Making A Splash At WPIAL Championship

The Riverside swim team made a splash in the WPIAL championships this past weekend. On the first day, February 28, the Panthers were led by the 200-yard medley relay team of Alexander Roth, Josiah Shaffer, Graham Kralic and Donnie Paracca, which placed second with a time of 1:38.53, less than two-tenths of a second behind Indiana.
