Local Women Loses $529 Due To Fraud On Monday, March 18 at 11:09 a.m., an elderly woman called the Ellwood City Police to report four pending transactions on her card that she did not make. These transactions include two for $30 from Barnes & Nobles and two plain $30 transactions, and a final unknown transaction for $529. The police are currently still investigating this after they had received official bank statements from the woman. Boyfriend Leaves Girlfriend With Swollen Eye On Monday, November 26, Pennsylvania State Police were called to a home on Mill Bridge Road in Slippery Rock Township at 8:18 p.m. on reports of a boyfriend beating his girlfriend. The victim called police with the report that she and her boyfriend, Dwayne Okeson, 39, had been in an argument when things got physical. Man Found Guilty Of Maliciously Loitering On Tuesday, November 13 at approximately 4:00am, Pennsylvania State Police were called to Ellwood Road in Wayne Township with complaints of two males fighting in a white vehicle that was parked outside the complaints home. They then informed police that the passenger of the vehicle had fired off two shots into the air from the passenger seat. Local Home Broken Into According to the Ellwood City Police, a resident on Hazel Avenue reported that their house had been broken into on Monday, November 5. The victim said that they had just arrived home from the hospital when they discovered that the glass of the front interior door of their house had been shattered. On Friday, October 12, just after 10:00 p.m, state police were called to a house on Guy Way, Wayne Township with reports of a white male breaking into a females home. The witness that called in stated he was throwing a party with a group of his friends when he noticed the male entering his neighbors home. Four Cars Damage At Local Auto Dealership: On Monday September 24 at 1:07 p.m, Napleton Automotive manager Ray Reale called Ellwood City Police with a report that four of the cars in the Napelton lot had been damaged sometime between 8:00 p.m on Saturday September 23 and 12:00 p.m on Monday September 24. Travis Ford Bates, 26, of River Road, is facing charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment after an incident late last month. According to the criminal complaint, Bates was accused by his mother and her boyfriend of attempted assault with a knife after an argument about money. The mother stated that Bates had entered her bedroom while she was lying in bed and started yelling and making advances towards the couple with the knife. A Line Ave. resident is facing 22 counts of child pornography charges following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to New Castle News, Robert Lee Rogers, 48, of 632 Line Avenue, Ellwood City, was investigated after allegedly downloading images of juvenile girls on his computer. The FBI alerted the district attorney’s office of their findings, prompting a search of Rogers’ laptop computer. Gun Found in 2nd Street Business’s Dumpster According to the police report, on August 28 Ellwood City officers were dispatched to a business on 2nd Street after receiving a call about a gun being discovered in the business’s dumpster.
