Thursday’s game at against Neshannock was a heartbreaker for the Riverside Panthers, as they lost an early lead, could not capitalize late, and end up on the losing end of the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinal contest in extra innings. The game was tied at four with Neshannock batting in the top of the eleventh when Jake Rynd singled on a 2-2 count, scoring the game winning run to advance the Lancers to the PIAA semifinals. Riverside Holds Off Mount Union, Advances In PIAA Playoffs

The Riverside Panthers got out to a five-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 5-3 victory over District 6 champion Mount Union on Monday in the opening round of the PIAA Class-2A Playoffs. Riverside got things moving in the first inning, when Bo Fornataro singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Riverside Claims PIAA State Relay Championships; Roth Sets State Record

Led by two relay state titles and a dominating individual performance by Joseph Roth, Riverside finished second overall in the Class-2A PIAA Swimming Championships at Bucknell University. On Friday, the Panther relay team collected a state title in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The team, consisting of Ryan Turner, Sam Kline, and brothers Joseph and Alexander Roth, finished with a time of 1:25.86 with individual splits of 21.24 (J. Roth) 21.39 (Kline) 22.07 (Turner) 21.16 (A. Roth). Panthers Set to Compete At PIAA Swimming Championships

The 2022 PIAA Swimming Championships are slated to begin this week at Kinney Natatorium located on the campus of Bucknell University. For the Riverside Panthers, winners of WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events among others earlier this month, they will look to showcase its talent at the championships that begin with Class 2A prelims Friday. Ty Fluharty Finishes 2nd Overall In PIAA Cross Country Championships

Riverside Panther runner Ty Fluharty finished 2nd overall in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Hershey, PA. Ellwood City and Riverside Cross Country teams had a collective five runners qualify for PIAA State Championships as a result of their individual finishes at the WPIAL Championships held Thursday at California University of Pennsylvania. For Ellwood City, Colton Crizer and Joel Brooks earned qualifying times while Ty Fluherty qualified in the WPIAL Boys Championships. Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event. Greer fired an 8-over round of 78 (40-38) on the afternoon. A walk-off single propelled Punxatawney to a 4-3 ten-inning victory over WPIAL runner-up Ellwood City in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A softball playoffs Monday afternoon at Heindl Field in DuBois.
