The annual Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade took place Monday morning as our community gathered downtown Ellwood City to enjoy the parade and to honor local Veterans of the past and present. A ceremony honoring veterans was held at Legion Park directly after the parade followed by free Hot Dogs provided by Dave’s Hometown Shop ‘n Save. Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Opening Day POSTPONED

UPDATED April 21st 11:32 a.m. — The opening day parade and ceremony has been postponed untiled next Saturday, April 29th due to weather forecasts. The schedule of events will remain the same Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation (ECABF) will hold its opening day ceremony on Saturday April 22nd. A parade will start at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the Old Ewing Park School field and head to Freidhoff Field where games will follow the ceremony and introduce all the teams. Warm temperatures met the onlookers at the annual Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade held Monday, March 30, 2022. After a wreath was placed into Connoquenessing Creek to start the Memorial Day observance, the parade trailed south across the Veterans Memorial Bridge (5th Street bridge) to the steps of the Lincoln High School Auditorium where it headed west on Crescent Avenue before returning down Lawrence Avenue and ending at the Legion Memorial Park near Circle Playground.

Lincoln High School’s Class of 2020 enjoyed somewhat of a non-traditional graduation ceremony and ensuing recognition on Tuesday. Thanks to the county moving to the green phase graduating seniors gathered in the Leslie Sabo auditorium for a traditional ‘tassel turn’ but shortly thereafter all seniors participated in a parade that roamed throughout Ellwood City and its nearby neighborhoods. “[This] was definitely the most personable commencement ceremony we’ve ever had,” Principal Kirk Lape said this week, citing the attention that was paid to each individual graduate.  Lape has said the events will be filmed and edited into the commencement ceremony film.

Decked out in signs, balloons, and creative decorations, Ellwood City Area School District staff made a trek through numerous neighborhoods Thursday evening as part of a planned parade to show their love and dedication for their students. Over 120 staff, faculty, and administrators participated. The parade route included neighborhoods in Ellwood City, Portersville, Ellport, and Wampum. ECASD Police assisted in the parade working with the local police, public safety officials, and the fire department. ECASD Educators Planning Parade As Summer Send Off For Students

The educators in the Ellwood City School District wanted one last chance to see the faces of their beloved students before the end of the school year … even if it is at a safe social distance. Their solution: A parade. Organizers and ECASD Elementary Counselors Debbie Wiech and Chrissy Mendillo said so far 120 staff, faculty, and administrators have “signed up” to participate. “We hope this shows the love and dedication we have for our students,” Wiech said. In what may feel like annual conditions, wet weather and rain met those who paraded Lawrence Avenue on Saturday as part of the annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade. Many onlookers grabbed an umbrella and jacket to enjoy costumes, candy, and floats. The parade began at Holy Redeemer and continued west on Lawrence Avenue to 8th Street before returning on Crescent Avenue. Many area Trick or Treats are scheduled for Thursday evening. The Borough of Ellwood City will hold trick or treating from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


Wampum Announces Annual Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the 46th annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. The parade will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Wampum America Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Women’s Club, and Wampum Area Business Association. PHOTOS: Annual Memorial Day Parade

Ninety-degree heat welcomed the hundreds of onlookers spread across town Monday morning during the annual Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade.  Youth organizations, marching bands, city and state officials, fire trucks, police cruisers, and other community members participated and marched in the parade honoring the men and women that died in military service for the United States of America. The parade took place across Ellwood City to Veterans Memorial Park where the closing ceremonies were held.  Members of the Ellwood City Civic Chorale performed at the conclusion of the ceremony.
