Ellwood City Area School District Provides Construction Update

In advance of the back to school season, the Ellwood City Area School District has provided an update to various construction projects on school grounds. According to the district website, the update is to provide the community with current information regarding the capital improvement projects that are underway throughout Ellwood City Area School District.  The focus of the projects is to create a safer learning environment for our students and staff. LHS Class of ’55 Celebrates 67th Reunion

The Lincoln High School Class of 1955 celebrated their 67th Reunion on Friday, July 1st at the Saxons Club. Name tags and programs were given to the graduates by the Committee as they entered the building and the program began with a saocial hour with conversation and friendships renewed. An invocation was presented by Guy Calabro followed by  a delicious dinner buffet catered by Nicos Restaurant. The program began with Joe Cioffi, Master of Ceremonies, asking for a moment of silence in memoriam of the 127 classmates who are deceased. Ellwood City Youth Wins State DAR Service Award

Hayden Slade, a rising senior at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, is the first place winner of the Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s (PSSDAR’s) Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award for his service to veterans and our troops. Hayden is sponsored by the Pymatuning Chapter in Sharon, where his grandmother Theresa Harkless Woods is a member. His State level submission also went on to win the Eastern Division of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). Lincoln High School Top Nine And Graduating Class of 2022

The Lincoln High School graduating Class of 2022 will receive their diplomas Thursday June 2nd, during a ceremony scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo Jr. Memorial Auditorium. Lincoln High School is graduating 102 students with nine students receiving high honors. Students will follow 2021-22 classes for the last time on Wednesday and underclassmen will receive their 2022-23 schedule during first period. The Ellwood Area Education Association recently awarded two scholarships to Lincoln High School seniors Emma Wise and Kyla Servick The scholarships are to be used toward their post-secondary expenses. Emma is the daughter of Gina and Ray Wise and will be attending Penn State University, University Park. Kyla is the daughter of Jolene Krupa and Sam Servick and will be attending Westminster College. Presenting the scholarships to the young ladies is Mrs. Heather Brest, a math teacher at Lincoln and the chair of the EAEA Scholarship Committee.


Ellwood City Area School District Begins Capital Improvement Projects

According to a press release from the district, Ellwood City Area School District capital improvements have begun throughout the district. As part of an extensive capital improvement project that includes work at all four district buildings, the most visible project is underway. The district is replacing the track surface and installing turf at Helling Stadium. “The track surface was lifting and was no longer safe and the addition of turf to the football field will allow us to expand the use of the field to so much more than just football. The 2022 Lincoln High School Prom Court has been announced! The “Illuminated Lagoon” Prom will be held this Friday, May 6th at the Villa in New Castle. During the night’s festivities the 2022 Prom King and Queen will be crowned. The annual Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School Promenade will be held on Friday at the Sgt. Leslie H. The annual Ellwood City Area Historical Society Scholarship submission is quickly approaching. The deadline is Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award two $1,500.00 scholarships to two (2) graduating seniors. Graduating seniors from Lincoln High School and Riverside High School who have been accepted to attend a college, Trade School or Performing Arts are eligible.
