Bernstine Announces Safe Schools Grant for Area School Districts

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) has announced that school districts in the 8th Legislative Districts have been awarded funding totaling $266,616 from the Safe Schools Targeted Grant programs. “Each school’s needs are different, and these grant programs allow schools flexibility to address their own unique security requirements,” said Bernstine. “Protecting our students is a point of emphasis for me, and I am grateful that our local schools will soon see the benefits of this grant program.” The following school districts were awarded an Equipment and/or Program Grant award: Lawrence County Career and Technical Center – $49,791. Lawrence County CTC Announces “Monster Mash” Collaboration

The Lawrence County CTC has announced their Commercial Arts program has recently partnered with the HOPE Center for Arts and Technology (HOPE CAT) in Sharon, PA for “Monster Mash” a collaborative exhibition with local elementary students. HOPE CAT collected drawings from elementary artists of monsters they dreamed up. Then a call to artists went out to over 50 professional artists to recreate the child’s monsters in their own style. ELLWOOD Visits Lawrence County High Schools as Part of Manufacturing Week

Last week, representatives from ELLWOOD visited with students throughout Lawrence County to celebrate Manufacturing Week, a lead-up to National Manufacturing Day celebrated Friday, October 7, 2022. ELLWOOD joined with the Lawrence County School to Work to coordinate the effort of reaching each high school in the county over the four-day period. Manufacturing Day is celebrated each year on the first Friday in October and is the manufacturing industry’s biggest opportunity to educate students, inspire the next generation of creators and promote the many career opportunities available in manufacturing. Lawrence County CTC Unveiling Replica Trolley On Tuesday

The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center (LCCTC) is unveiling a replica of the original 1908 Harmony Short Line Trolley on Tuesday, May 24th at 1:00 p.m. The festivities will include staff and students. The trolley replica, manufactured at LCCTC for the Ellwood City Area Historical Society, will then move to Ellwood City, to be used by the Historical Society. Two LHS Students Recognized For LCCTC Pride & Promise Award

Two Lincoln High School students were among four dedicated senior Cosmetology students who received the Lawrence County Career & Technical Center (LCCTC) March 2021 Pride & Promise Award Each student was recognized at the JOC Board meeting last week for achieving 1,250 hours during their three years of study at LCCTC. Earning this milestone accomplishment, the students are now able to get a temporary license and take the PA State Board examination to be newly licensed hair stylists in PA. LCCTC Students Receive Pride and Promise Award

Seven area students recently were selected as “Pride and Promise Award’ winners for the month of February by the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center (LCCTC) during the school’s February Joint Operating Committee meeting. Each senior Health Assistant student passed the TNAT (Temporary Nurse Aide Test) which (because of Covid) is equivalent to the standard CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) test.
