Sean Busby Shuts Out Mohawk Area, Wolverines Take The Win. Sean Busby didn’t allow a single run as Ellwood City Wolverines defeated Mohawk Area 3-0 on Tuesday. Busby allowed just one hit. The pitching was strong on both sides. Busby struck out nine, while Cummings sat down zero. Wolverines fired up the offense in the first inning, when Sammy DiCaprio singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. One bright spot for Mohawk was a single by Toscano in the fifth inning. Two Riverside Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Avonworth Riverside Panthers defeated Avonworth 10-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Ottaviani struck out Patrick Gannon to finish off the game, finishing off a phenomenal start by Riverside starter Gunner Boehm. The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, and scored two runs when Boehm helped his own cause with a homer. Riverside tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Boehm Victorious In Pitcher’s Duel For Riverside Both teams were strong on the mound Friday, but the Riverside Panthers defeated South Side 3-1 behind the arm of Gunnar Boehm. Boehm allowed just four hits to South Side and earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Riverside (7-1 overall). Gunnar Boehm’s five-RBI outburst sealed the deal in Riverside’s 11-1 mercy rule victory over Ellwood City on Friday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Boehm showed timely hitting on Friday, driving in five runs on only two hits including the grand slam in the pivotal, 7-run 4th inning to lead Riverside. Boehm also doubled in a run in the sixth.
