2024 Storytelling Festival Is Saturday

The Annual Storytelling Festival is Saturday! Ellwood City Community Enrichment along with the Ellwood City Area Public Library is hosting the event on Saturday, September 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Folino Stage in Ewing Park. Enjoy the captivating stories of Francene Kirk at 4 PM, followed by Mike Perry’s engaging tales at 4:45 PM. Enjoy musical storytelling with Rick Hudson at 5:30 PM, and wrap up the evening with Howard Mincone’s unique blend of juggling and storytelling at 6:15 PM. 14th Annual Ellwood City Octoberfest Scheduled For October 5th

Ellwood City may not be Bavaria but it does have its version of Octoberfest. The 14th Annual Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday October 5th from 12pm to 5pm at the Wolves Shelter in Ewing Park, rain or shine. $30 presell or $35 at the door, attendees will be oompah-pah-ing for the abundance of food and beer samples. Free Basketball Camp Draws 42 Participants

The free co-ed basketball camp at Ewing Park for 6 to 12-year-olds was held Monday, July 29th through Friday, Aug. 2nd from 10 a.m. to Noon. Forty-two campers were taught ball handling, dribbling, passing, defense, foul shot and layup shooting form and some rules of the game. The camp concluded Friday with games of knock out, horse, a shooting competition and games of five versus five. They were also treated to a pizza party. The annual Ellwood City festival took place this past weekend, bringing thousands to the grounds of Ewing Park for food, crafts and entertainment. The weekend included its annual 10k race and culminated with a fireworks spectacular Sunday evening. Bristol Borselli was crowned 2024 Little Miss Firecracker on Friday. 4th Annual Dog Days Of Summer Returns Next Weekend

Woof, woof! The fourth annual Reed’s Services Dog Days of Summer event will take place next weekend in Ewing Park. The multi-day event is scheduled to take place 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21st and Saturday, June 22nd, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd. The event is rain or shine, pet friendly, and will benefit police K9 unites in Lawrence and Beaver counties. Little Miss Firecracker Pageant Set To Take Stage

Folino Stage is about to shine again with a lot of sparkle and spunk as 17 local ladies take the stage for the 7th annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant. New Advocacy Group Formed to Preserve Ewing Park, Oppose Planned Softball Field

A new advocacy group has been formed to preserve Ewing Park. The Citizens for Ewing Park Preservation (CEPP) group was announced during Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors Committee Meeting Monday evening. Chairperson for the group, Karen Mancini, is a resident of Beatty Street, which faces the old Ewing Park School property where the district has proposed and plans to construct a girls softball field.
