Gabe Lilly started his wrestling season with an individual championship at the 25th annual Union Local Rick Link Invitational at Union Local High School in Ohio on Saturday. Lilly (165 pounds) defeated Jeston Showalte 10-6 in the semifinals who was the returning 3rd place state medalist as West Virginia state championships. Wolverines junior wrestlers Derek Allen and Gabe Lilly each collected second place finishes in their respective weight classes at the District 7 Class 2A Sectionals this past Saturday at Greensburg Salem High School. After receiving an opening round bye, Allen, who is now 25-8 on the season, used victories by pinfall and decision to earn a place in the 121-pound championship match. The team was among 22 teams participating in the tournament at Buckeye Local High School in Ohio on Saturday, January 27th.
