Overnight Explosion Destroys Former Walnut Ridge School and Brew Pub

As first reported overnight by multiple news outlets, an explosion rocked the former Walnut Ridge Elementary school and home of The Time Brew Pub. The building was left with significant damage after a reported gas explosion took place shortly after midnight Tuesday. There were no initial reports of injuries. Columbia Gas was called to the scene as were Ellwood City police and the Pennsylvania state police fire marshal. Columbia Gas Official Announces Meter Move Out Program at Borough Council Meeting

The Ellwood City Borough Council welcomed visitors from Columbia Gas who were in attendance to announce the Meter Move Out Program. Columbia Gas implemented the Meter Move Out Program to comply with a requirement from The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to locate all gas meters and regulators outside and above ground. Natural Gas Odor Forces Brief Evacuation At Lincoln High School

An odor of natural gas detected in a Lincoln High School storage room Thursday morning, forcing a brief evacuation of the high school. This according to the Ellwood City Area School District and superintendent Wes Shipley. “We evacuated the building to Hartman while Columbia Gas and the local fire department investigated,” said Shipley in an emailed statement Friday. Approximately 250 Columbia Gas Customers Are Experiencing Natural Gas Outage

According to an alert from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania made available to the borough, approximately 250 customers are experiencing a natural gas outage in the Ellwood City area as of Thursday afternoon. The outage affects customers on Aetna Drive, Argonne Boulevard, Cavalier Court, Crabapple Lane, Crestview Drive, Dover Lane, June Lee Street, Meadowridge Drive, Peach Street, Plymouth Lane, Sewall Court, Skyline Drive, Sunset Boulevard, and Walnut Drive.
