The Ellwood City girls basketball team fell 56-26 Thursday night to the section leading Laurel Spartans as part of their Senior night festivities. Liz Mihalko, Brooke Roth, and Aliya Garroway were the three Ellwood City girls basketball seniors recognized in advance of the game. The Ellwood City girls basketball team raced out to an early advantage Thursday night en route to its 54-31 Riv-Ell victory over the visiting Riverside Panthers. The Wolverines used a 20 point first quarter to jump out to an early advantage they never relinquished on their home court. VIDEO: Overnight Fire At Ellwood City Bar

Video from multiple Pittsburgh news outlets showcase a fire that ravaged an Ellwood City bar overnight Monday. According to reports, a fire was reported at the Dog Gone Bar and Grill on First Street at around 12:15 a.m. No one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported. Netflix has released the trailer for “The Pale Blue Eye,” a Christian Bale movie with scenes filmed in several Lawrence County and nearby locations. The storyline centers on a veteran detective investigating murders, assisted by a detail-oriented young cadet who later becomes legendary horror author, Edgar Allan Poe. Production moved around Western Pennsylvania during filming and includes Lawrence County’s McConnells Mill State Park and Westminster College. A series of events hosted by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the first weekend of December. Friday evening, Ellwood City held its “Let There Be Lights” downtown extravaganza that featured street vendors, live performances, and the lighting of the large holiday tree in the community plaza.
