PHOTOS: 2019 Lincoln High School Graduation

The Class of 2019 has graduated! 117 Lincoln High School seniors as well as an additional 38 students from Lawrence County Vo-Tech received diplomas as part of the ceremonies at the Leslie H. Sabo Memorial Auditorium Thursday evening. Nine students graduated with high honors: Katherine Bowser, Alex Fotia, Chloe Kuffer, Patricia McMillin, Caden Myers, Kaitlyn Navolio, Madeline Spadafore, and Reece Wilson. Riverside Beaver County School District will hold their graduation ceremonies Friday evening, beginning at 6:00pm.  According to the district, and at this time, the district anticipates the Commencement Ceremony will be held at Riverside Memorial Stadium. PHOTOS: “Walk To Honor” In Ellwood City

The annual Ellwood City Memorial Day parade was held on Monday, May 27. The parade began on the Veterans Bridge on Fifth Street at 10:00 a.m and proceeded to Crescent Avenue, over to Eighth Street, down to Lawrence Avenue, back to Fifth and then onto Spring Avenue into Legion Park, where the 45-minute memorial event was held. The parade traveled to several veterans, local leaders spoke, the borough’s civic choral performed, and there was a flag-raising ceremony. PHOTOS: Late Rally Spoils Softball Senior Night

After trailing for much of the game, a four-run rally by Ellwood City was later outdone by a 5-run final frame by Neshannock leading to a 10-7 road victory for the Lancers at Stiefel Park on Wednesday. The Wolverines rallied in the fifth inning and laid claim to a two-run cushion entering the seventh inning, but Neshannock plated two runs to tie the game and later in the inning saw Jesse Fehrs double home the go-ahead run. Dici, Court to Serve as Officers of State Association

Council President Jude Dici and Mayor Anthony Court acknowledge recent honors they have received. At the Pa State Association of Boroughs Convention, to be held in June in Hershey, Dici will be sworn in as the President of the PSAB’s Councils Association and Court will be the Vice President of the PSAB Association of Mayors.


PHOTOS: Ellwood City Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Hundreds of children, of all ages, swarmed the Ewing Park grounds on a spring-like Saturday for the 24th Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt. According to their social media page, “[the hunt] had roughly 720 children lots of candy got handed out.along with cookies from Eat N Park. This was one of the best attendance we have had in a long time. The support we got from our community was amazing” The free event featured over 9,000 colored eggs and 30 golden eggs handed out. Victories For Both Ellwood Softball Teams On Tuesday

Varsity Softball Team Defeats Beaver Falls; Improves To 3-1 After spotting the Tigers a 2-0 lead on two singles and two errors in the top of the first, The Lady Wolverines would score the next 17 runs to win the three-inning mercy rule shortened game by a final of 17-2. Ellwood City would score 6 runs in the second inning, all with two outs, to take command.  Kyla Servick started the rally with a two-out single. VIDEO: Students Coming Together To Show Strength In Unity

Normally when the Panthers and the Wolverines are in one gym you can cut the tension with a knife, however not last week. On Friday, both schools came together in honor of the late Kaitlyn “Kait” Francis who had passed away January 28. Francis was an Ellwood City senior who lost her battle with cancer after being diagnosed back in elementary school. Students and athletes alike came together to show strength in by wearing the black shirts that read “She Was Not Meant to Break” on the front, with a gold ribbon, which stands for childhood cancer awareness, and “Kait” on the…

Riverside used a third quarter surge to pull away to its 59-47 rivalry victory over Ellwood City on Friday.  The victory capped a season sweep for the Panthers in the two- game Riv-Ell series. After a quick six point surge to start the third frame, Ellwood City responded to cut what had become a seven point lead down to a single possession. Maria Ioanilli’s late steal and 3-point play sparked the Lady Wolverines to a 38-36 rivalry victory over Riverside on the road Thursday night. With her team trailing with less than 90 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the sophomore forward collected a steal and went coast-to-coast for a layup under duress, earning a 3-point play with the earned free throw to boost Ellwood City  (13-9 Overall, 6-8 Section 3A-1) back in front of what was a back and forth game for much of the second half. PHOTOS: Panthers Fall To Tigers On Senior Night

The Riverside Panthers boys basketball team was defeated by Beaver Falls 68-39 Tuesday night.  Senior basketball players and cheerleaders were recognized as part of senior night festivities prior to the tip-off. Junior Ben Hughes finished with 11 points for the Panthers who could not overcome a 20-point first quarter outburst by the visiting Tigers. Jalen Vaughn (22 points) and Gage McKelvey (21 points) led the offensive output for Beaver Falls (9-11 overall). For Riverside (9-10 overall, 3-8 Section 3A-1), the loss dips them just one game below .500 but the Panthers will look to rebound this Friday when they travel…
