Born in Ellwood City on June 5, 1956, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Esther Mchattie Petrak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Patterson on July 7, 2006. They were married on June 17, 1988. Joan was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. Lois I. McCandless, 86, of Lowell, MI, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 5, 2016 at Green Acres of Lowell, MI. She was born in Ellwood City on April 28, 1929 to the late Clyde L. Brewer and the late Madge Anderson Brewer.  She married her husband of nearly 60 years, Alvin Dale McCandless in 1952.  He preceded her in death on June 2, 2011.  She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Beaver Valley General Hospital nursing program and worked at the Ellwood City Hospital. Emmett S. Burns, Jr., 74, of Frisco, Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Ellwood City on August 29, 1941 to the late Emmett S. D’Amico, 80 of Steifel Avenue in Franklin Township passed away at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 4:22 a.m. Born in Schwartz, Pa. on Nov. 12, 1935, Shirley was the daughter of the late Edward D. and Ethel L. Stewart McDonald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene D’Amico on July 12, 1912. They were married on June 9, 1956.
